Tower Defense Basics That Still Win Games
Every tower defense game adds its own twist, but a handful of fundamentals carry across almost all of them. If you are bouncing off these games, the problem is usually one of these.
First, slow before you shoot. A single slowing tower multiplies the value of everything else, because every damage tower gets more time on target. New players load up on firepower and wonder why things leak through.
Second, build at corners and chokes. Enemies spend the most time in view near bends, so a tower covering a corner effectively does double duty. Placement beats raw stats more often than you would think.
Third, do not spread your money thin. A few upgraded towers usually crush a field of weak ones. Commit to a line of defense and make it strong before you expand. I lost a lot of maps learning that the expensive way.
Finally, read the wave before it spawns. Most games warn you what is coming. Spending that quiet moment adjusting your plan is the difference between a comfortable clear and a panicked scramble.
